Clutch Cable

The Rush SR uses cable-operated clutch actuation on all models. This is the OEM replacement clutch cable — the same cable that comes standard on the car. The clutch is used primarily for pulling away from a standstill; once moving, the pneumatic shift system handles all upshifts and downshifts without the clutch.

The clutch cable uses a 2mm diameter braided stainless steel inner wire (7x7 construction — 49 individual strands) routed through a 7mm outer diameter conduit with a Teflon (PTFE) liner for smooth, low-friction operation. The cable adjuster is M8 x 1.25mm thread, 42mm overall length. This is a heavier-duty cable than the throttle cable, which uses a smaller 1.5mm wire and 6mm conduit — the two are not interchangeable.

Per the Rush SR maintenance schedule, the clutch cable should be inspected and adjusted each weekend, and replaced once per season (approximately every 32 hours of runtime). When installing, apply blue Loctite to the fasteners and allow the motor to sit dry for at least 24 hours before use — skipping this step can cause the bolt to loosen and lead to shift issues.

Lubricate with PJ1 Cable Lube only. Do not use general-purpose lubricants, as they can attract dirt and cause premature wear inside the conduit.
