The Differential Outer Plate is an aluminum cover that closes one side of the differential housing. This plate bolts to the differential carrier and contains the internal differential components including gears, clutch plates, and output shaft bearings.
The outer plate provides a sealed housing for the differential oil and supports the output shaft bearing. It must be properly torqued and sealed to prevent oil leaks. The plate also provides adjustment for bearing preload and gear alignment within the differential.
This is an OEM replacement part that comes standard with the Rush SR differential assembly.
