Blip Air Cylinder

Pneumatic actuator (also called blip cylinder) that automatically opens the throttle during downshifts on throttle cable cars (pre-2023 Rush SRs). When you pull the left paddle for a downshift, the valve block releases compressed air to both the shift cylinder (for the gear change) and the blip cylinder (for the throttle blip).

The blip cylinder connects to the throttle linkage via the blip cylinder cable adaptor and momentarily opens the throttle to match engine RPM to the lower gear. This prevents engine braking from locking the rear wheels during downshifts, allowing smooth clutchless downshifts.

The blip cylinder mounts to the chassis using the blip cylinder mount. Proper cable adjustment is critical—too loose results in insufficient throttle blip, too tight causes binding.

Compatibility: For throttle cable (non-DBW) cars only, essentially pre-2023 Rush SRs. Drive-by-wire cars (2023+) do not use this component. On DBW cars, the GCU sends an electrical signal to the ECU, and the ECU manages both the throttle blip and throttle cut electronically, eliminating the need for the blip cylinder and solid state ignition interruptor. This is an OEM replacement part for throttle cable cars.
